BackRoads
The BackRoads Band was originally formed in the mid 80's when neighbors Roger Hale and Deneen Wardell were looking for a release from the stress of everyday life. Both cut their music teeth at an early age, but like many before them had gotten away from it when 'responsibility' called. It was time to get back to business... The music business that is.... The Band has gone through changes with the addition of Bobby McCraw playing drums and adding vocals and Russell Clapp on vocals, keyboard, and mandobird.

The band's name came from one of their original songs written by Deneen named BackRoads. The song is about corporate life in the fast lane and how much he longed for the good ole' days as a carefree young adult cruising on the North Texas backroads. The chorus states "I Prefer to spend my time... Cruzin' on the Backroads of my mind.." A direct reference to daydreaming about days gone by... and a timeless statement that people from all walks of life and all parts of the country can relate to. The BackRoads Band's music brings back those days and throws in some of the newer "timeless" classics as well.
