Whether the rich vocals and honest songwriting on acoustic guitar or the full band blending driving rock and passionate performances, Confusing Minerva's music draws listeners to everyday songs we can all relate to. The band Confusing Minerva was founded in 2004 and has an original sound with influences ranging from Monte Montgomery, John Mayer and Dave Matthews to Foo Fighters and Matchbox Twenty. CM draws from a wide range of styles but can best be described as acoustic pop/rock or indie rock. Daryl, the bands founder, uses a combination of fingerstyle and flatpick style guitar playing drawn from his primary musical influence, Austin guitar virtuoso, Monte Montgomery. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Daryl’s introduction to playing music began with the trumpet and performing in school concert and marching bands. An avid listener of pop radio, his idea of songwriting focused on melodies and lyrics that “had something to say”. Based on his influences, his goal is to bring taste, economy and a playful sense of timing to pop-ish songs with a rock edge.
