CRISTINA AMARO - Queen of Tejano & Latin Tribute

Venezuelan Soprano, Cristina Amaro, dreamed of being a singer from an early age. She studied Ballet from the age of 4 and continued throughout her teenage years, while also participating in music and dance organizations in Venezuela. 

Cristina took a hiatus to study English at 11 years old, joining her uncles in Idaho while feeding her sense of adventure. At 17, Cristina continued to explore her interest in foreign languages. She studied abroad with AFS Intercultural Programs and lived in Italy (Palermo, Sicily) for a year, studying Italian language and vocal performance. Upon returning to Venezuela, Cristina initiated her Bachelor Degree studies in Music (Voice) at the Universidad de Los Andes. She performed regularly, including the roles of Sally/You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Frasquita/Carmen in Mérida, Venezuela.  

Cristina moved to Houston,TX in June 2013 and continued her musical studies at The University of St. Thomas (UST). She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) in May 2015 while maintaining an active participation in music groups across the city. Within UST’s system, Cristina played the partial roles of Tuptim/The King and I, Yum-yum/The Mikado, June/Gipsy, Amahl/Amahl and the Night Visitors, Adelaide/Guys and Dolls and Maria/West Side Story. 

Upon graduating, Cristina joined the Houston performance scene playing the roles of Ida/Die Fledermaus at Opera in The Heights, Arethuze/Actéon at Operativo Houston, Andrina/The Little Mermaid at Baytown Little Theater and as a supernumerary actor in Götterdämmerung and Julius Caesar at Houston Grand Opera. Cristina is also a character entertainer at Party Princess Productions, Houston. She has performed with The Houston Latin-American Philharmonic, Mango Punch!, The Mosaic Hub, Grupo Kache, Palmer Episcopal Church, University Singers (UST), Parroquia Virtual Venezolana and others. 

Cristina is proud to call Houston her home, and continues to expand her artistic footprint in the city. In addition to fronting Cristina Tribute Show - to the Queen of Tejano she's also a vocalist for Infinite Groove. Besides her active performance schedule Cristina is working as the Administrative Associate at MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston). Supporting all performance and operational efforts for up-and-coming groups in the area. Like a true multicultural Houstonian, Cristina enjoys expanding communities, dancing, eating and giving back to her fellow Texans!
