Dan began playing with his own group Danny and the Dreamers.
Dan joined The Royal Jesters. The group became national recording artists along
with other groups such as The Partridge Family and The Fifth Dimension under
Bell Records. The Royal Jesters performed at the Bachelor of Science at UT in
Austin for dignitaries such as Darrel Royal, President Lyndon B. Johnson,
and Lady Bird Johnson. The Jesters also backed Billy Joe Royal at the Toys for
Tots Concert.
an formed another band, Trayces, which performed at local discotheques such
as The Grand Hotel, Heaven Discotheque, Bwana Dick, and Ricardo’s. Trayces
performed for the Shah of Iran for their New Year’s at Lackland AFB. Trayces
also recorded at Sea-Saint Studios in New Orleans where artists such as Stevie
Wonder, Paul McCartney, Patti LeBelle, Al Green, Brian Hyland also recorded.
Dan recorded the cover of Neil Diamond’s “Heartlight” in Spanish (“Prende Tu
Corazo
Dan toured with his band, The Dan Michael Band, at major hotels such as
Hiltons, Sheratons, Holiday Inns, La Posadas, Sally-Port Inns, and the Inn
of the Mountain Gods in Ruidosa, New Mexico. Dan opened for Wayne
Newton at the Conoco Building in Corpus Christi and for Tom Jones in
Midland, Texas.
Dan hosted “Nightlife, San Antonio Style” on Time-Warner Channel 20.
Dan created and hosted his own show “The Dan Michael Show” on Time-
Warner Channel 20 with such artists as Selena, Paul Rodriguez, Johnny
Rodriguez, Ram Herrera, Emilio Narvaira, and many others. Dan
continued doing studio work and working with local groups.
