I was born and raised in Wessington Springs, a town of about 1000 people in east central South Dakota. After high school, I attended SDSU in Brookings, SD, where I majored in Broadcast Journalism. I then lived in Mitchell, SD, for a few years before making the move to Nashville, TN.

My dad, Kyle Evans, had a band, so I don't remember a time when I wasn't around music. I first performed on stage with him when I was three. I took some piano lessons as a kid, and stayed active in band and music throughout school. I drummed for a rock band as a freshman in high school, then played guitar in another band my junior year. After all of those guys overdosed on heroin (not really), I started a country band called The Outriders, with the son of my dad's drummer. Our first show was the summer after my senior year. Word about this group spread pretty quickly, and the calendar started to fill up. We never thought of it as a career, but that's when I first realized I could get paid for doing something I loved.

The Outriders eventually parted ways, and after college, I set my sights on recording an album in Nashville, and joined an already popular band in Mitchell, SD.

Then I recorded some albums and we started playing enormous venues with famous people. I'll have to tell you about it sometime.
