Jim Salter is a Texas Country/Red Dirt singer-songwriter. Born in Irving, TX, Salter was raised in the Houston Area and started playing guitar as a teenager. While attending college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, he was introduced to the Texas Country scene and began playing in local bars. After he graduated with a degree in History, Salter continued to play small shows in the North Houston area while also bartending on the side. In late 2014, he stopped bartending in order to focus on his music career full time. He recently recorded an acoustic EP that is available online. Over the last decade, Salter's style has grown to incorporate several different genres. His distinct tenor lends well to Folk and Americana songs as well as the Texas music of his roots. Additionally, he has managed to build a loyal following all across the Greater Houston Area at many different venues. His sets are characteristically filled with story-telling songs, standard favorites, and, of course, songs about trains. Independently charged and driven, Salter plays over 200 shows a year and he’s only just getting started.
