Andrew Millsaps
Andrew Millsaps
Andrew Millsaps was born and raised in Surry County, NC. A self-taught musician, he has been playing the guitar and writing music since his early teen years. His music is steeped in the traditions of classic country, and his lyrics artfully blend stories of his life growing up in Ararat, NC with beats and tempos that capture the essence of his classic country sound. Andrew began his music career playing for his friends and family around kitchen tables and weekend bonfires, but his talent was bound for larger audiences. ?

After high school, he began performing cover songs combined with original tunes at local venues and events while attending college. Andrew graduated from North Carolina State University in 2018. While still at NC State, he recorded and released his first single, “Take My Keys” in 2017, and the song was aired on local radio stations. He was the opening act for Tracy Lawrence in December of that same year. Andrew formed his band “Andrew Millsaps and the Russell Hunt Band” in early 2019. “Take My Keys” placed Andrew in the semi-finalist position in the “Music City Song Star Competition” in March 2019. He and his band appeared live as the spotlight artists on the Classic Country 98.1 “The Crooked Road Show” in April 2019.

Andrew's biggest accomplishment thus far was being selected as a finalist in the country category of the Merlefest “Chris Austin Songwriting Contest” for his song, “Ain’t No Genie (in a Bottle of Jack).” Andrew earned first place in the country category of the competition with “Ain’t No Genie.” He performed his winning song on the Cabin Stage at Merlefest as a solo act, and he and his band performed a full set of Andrew’s original songs the following day in front of thousands. Andrew aspires to advance his musical talent as song writer and performer while "keeping it country."
