Wayne Toups

Wayne Toups is a Grammy-winning American singer and master accordionist from Crowley, Louisiana. Known as "Le Boss," he is a pioneer of the "Zydecajun" genre, a high-energy fusion of traditional Cajun music, zydeco rhythms, soul, and Southern rock. Toups coined the term "Zydecajun" with his 1986 self-titled album, blending his Cajun heritage with R&B textures and rock 'n' roll attitude. His 1989 album Blast from the Bayou was the first Cajun record to crack the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. His 1995 release Back to the Bayou became the fastest-selling record in the history of the independent Swallow Records label.
