Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium, built in 1926, has had a long history of civic meetings, pageants, notable music performers, and even boxing matches held within. Owned by the City but operated by a volunteer Sweetwater-Nolan County Board of Directors, the Auditorium has seen steady growth in renovations and performances. The Board, whose motto is “Providing Community Development through the Arts”, does just that by hosting a number of shows every year, and enjoys the support of the local community. Its APPLAUSE Series has a Broadway Revue, a Western Heritage show, a Christmas show, a Lift Every Voice concert, and a Musica Latina show. In addition to hosting these shows, the Auditorium is available for private needs, hosting several business, church, and other civic organization meetings every year.
