Grammy-nominated trumpeter Bobby Shew comes to Tyler for an evening of jazz, Saturday, October 26, at Liberty Hall. Performing with Shew will be the Tyler Junior College Jazz Ensemble. General Admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. The concert is presented by the East Texas Symphony Orchestra Association and Tyler Junior College, with support from the Women’s Symphony League of Tyler.
Bobby Shew is an acclaimed musician and educator. He has played with some of the biggest names in jazz including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, and many others. He is also an accomplished band leader and solo artist in his own right, receiving a Grammy nomination for his album, “Outstanding in His Field.” Through his studio work, Shew can also be heard on the soundtracks of TV series such as “Hawaii 5-0,” “Happy Days,” and “Mary Tyler Moore,” as well as such films as “Rocky,” “Grease,” and “The Muppet Movie.”
