George Chambers and the Country Gentlemen
George Chambers is one of the most talented and enduring musicians in Texas. Though very popular in the San Antonio area, most of George's gigs are out of town and out of state. His band, the Country Gentlemen, consists of the most professional western musicians around and plays a popular mixture of traditional country, modern country, and western swing. One result of George's ability to develop good musicians is that he loses a lot of them to other nationally known groups. Willie Nelson picked up David Zettner and B. Spears from George's band, Charley Pride got Preston Buchanan, Daryl McCall hired Larry Roberson and Terry Yarborough. Of course, on one of George's albums Willie wrote the liner notes and thanked George for training all those good musicians for him.
