Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat

"Dirt Road" is Jim Suhler's acoustic tour-de-force & it shows an aspect of his artistry which will be new to many of his followers. Those new to Jim Suhler's work & who may be experiencing their first taste via this album will likely be enchanted but will not appreciate the contrast from his previous releases until they backtrack & obtain his early work. On offer here are 15 tracks (OK, track 1 consists of 32 seconds of swamp frogs trilling) including 9 Jim Suhler originals. I particularly like Jim's reading of Johnny Winter's "Dallas" in fact I reckon I prefer the acoustic Jim Suhler over the full-on version & hope he produces more of this kind of work.
