Lauren has been wanting to make her name known ever since she was a little girl. She sand karaoke for her friends and family, but she felt that she was more into ballet at the time. Lauren danced for 12 full years at 3 different studios; Studio 511, Creative Dance Elements and The Plano Dance Theatre. She loved dance with all of her heart and her family supported her through all of those dancing years. Year 2010 rolled around and Lauren belonged to a talent agency (AMTC; Acting Modeling and Talent for Christ), she loved it there very much and met so many new people wanting to live the same dream. Getting ready for the big competition at the Gaylord hotel located in Orlando, Florida, Lauren auditioned for dance originally, but when she picked up the guitar recently before she arrived at the competition, she realized that's really what she was meant to do. While most people were out at restaurants and fancy places, Lauren and her mom would sit on a bench inside the hotel and perform for random strangers. She had a new love and passion for music. It was only a few days into the competition when Lauren and her family found out that her Grandpa Lewis (John Lewis) was not going to make it due to lung cancer. Right after that phone call she had to be on stage for her acting piece that she wrote herself (inspired by How To Train Your Dragon the movie), tears were running down her face by the end of her performance, but she took all of the pain and emotion to the stage. Her mom wasn't doing well and that's when she knew she had to go see her grandpa. Leaving from Florida to Vegas, all of their things were packed within half an hour. Thomas Kent (Lauren's brother) and Tom Kent (Lauren's father) were devastated as well and eager to rush to Vegas to see John. Lauren was learning a new song called Rain by John Heitz. She related to the song very easily because it was about getting through the difficult times and knowing every thing's going to be okay. That was the last song that Lauren sang to her grandfather before he was sent to a better place. Her and her grandfather were very close and Lauren even says, "My grandpa wasn't just a regular grandpa, he was one of my best friends, and he always knew exactly what to say." Not too long before John was diagnosed, he wrote a letter to Lauren because she was going through a hard time in high school and didn't have very many friends, "This letter had everything that I needed to hear, everything. I went to high school the next week with my head up high, everything made sense when he said it." Lauren said. That's really when she knew music was for her. After a month or two, Lauren, her family and friends all went to support her at Hanks Texas Grill (McKinney, TX) for Wednesday's Open Mic Night. Lauren was very nervous, but she went on stage anyway. She continued to sing there for over a year and still does when she can. That's where her singing career began. The journey now begins.
