Matt Martindale, long time lead singer, guitar player, and writer for the Texas based band Cooder Graw, has headed out on his own. Martindale has penned such Texas anthems as Llano Estacado, Better Days, Lifetime Stand, Clarksdale, That Girl Crystal, Two More Tears in Texas, Booger on my Finger, and many notable others. Now Martindale has taken his pen out on the road once more, with new beginnings. The Matt Martindale Band, will be taking the new show on the road very soon. When asked why the change, the always wordy Attorney-at-music stated, “just cuz.” We think it was actually to spend more time with his family, as evidenced by a decreased tour schedule and a lack of time for explanations.
In the past, Martindale has done a bunch of really cool things, like playing some of the Willie Picnic’s, recording a song with the legendary Johnny Bush and Willie Nelson, playing the Larry Joe Taylor Festival several years running (he actually jogs while at the festival, for all of you literalists), recording with Asleep at the Wheel, Pat Green, and Kelly Willis, recording several Dodge commercials, having two songs in the Jamie Foxx movie, "Held Up,"appearing in the independent film "Coyote Funeral," and even recently has the background vocals on the new Pat Green Dodge commercial. When questioned on these various notorious subjects, Martindale had this to say, “huh?”
Look for the Matt Martindale Band in your market, your valley market, really soon, “and buy a t-shirt.”
