First you learn your instrument, then you learn music, then you forget both of those and just blow... ..Dizzy Gillespie
Every stockpot of great gumbo starts with the roux. In a simmering mix of harmonica/guitar driven- blues, swamp, and boogie, SwampSauce is that roux. They are just as at home playing in a backwoods Louisiana fais-dos-dos, a Mississippi delta juke joint, or an old school Chicago blues bar. Their infectious blend of music grips the crowd and doesn't let go, promising an evening not soon to be forgotten.
SwampSauce was formed five years ago by three of the current members; Jeff Clark, David K, and Keith Hiebner and has quickly become one of Austin's most popular bands. They were voted one of the top ten blues bands in "The Austin Chronicle Austin Music Awards", in company with Los Lonely Boys, Eric Johnson, Gary Clark Jr., Grady, WC Clark and Marcia Ball.
The band released their self-titled CD, "SwampSauce," which is already very popular with their growing number of fans. The songs on SwampSauce's self titled CD are the result of their influences, touched by Mose Allison, Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Albert Collins, James Brown, Al Green, and all the early Stax and Hi records. Recently, one of their originals, ..Turn Up The Heat.. was chosen for the film ..Circle Track Summer.. by production company Fools Gold Entertainment coming out by the end of 2005. The guys have been joined on stage by friend James McMurtry, and legends like Pinetop Perkins
SwampSauce is a powerful, energetic act blending blues, r&b, swing and funk into a very tasty stew."
